Summary

Only common household pets (defined as pets commonly sold in a pet store) are permitted. No animals, poultry, or livestock may be raised or kept on the property or in community areas. Pets must be housed inside the residence — decks and patios do not count as part of the home for this purpose. Dogs must be on a leash whenever outside the owner’s property. Pet waste must be cleaned up from community areas and outside the home. The number of pets is limited to whatever the City of West Chicago ordinance allows, with an exception for new litters up to 4 months old.

Open Questions

  • The exact pet count limit depends on City of West Chicago ordinance, which is not reproduced in the R&Rs. Would need to reference city code for the specific number.
